Repfest 2017
I am finally able to write about my experience at Repfest, which took place in Nashville, TN the first weekend of this month. Let me back up and explain what Repfest is. Every year, Avon will host something similar to a convention in a new location each year. This year, the convention, also known as Repfest, took place in Nashville, TN. I wasn't sure what to expect, since this was my first year attending.
I decided to drive down from CT, only 1000 miles each way, an estimate 15 hours, no big deal right? I never knew PA and VA were such huge states! TN was just as huge, but more about that later! I brought my 20 year old daughter with me and we left CT around 9 am Thursday morning. The weather was great until we made it to a rest area in either VA or WV, but I believe we were in VA, when it began to rain. But it didn't last too long. We made it as far as Dublin, VA by 8:30 pm and booked a room at a Super 8, which was next to a Burger King, gas station, across from a McDonalds and a Walmart. The room was decent, the price was decent, and we were able to get rest for the night.
Friday morning we left around 8 am. Again the weather was good, and we were to arrive in Nashville by 1:30 pm. Didn't know about the Central time change, but that wasn't even a big deal. Pretty much the whole time we were driving in TN it rained, but not a regular rain...a monsoon type rain. Nothing I ever experienced here in CT. Comparable to the rain I experienced leaving Six Flags several years ago when there was Tornado type weather. Anyways, we arrived in Nashville and at the Gaylord Opryland Resort around 1:30 pm.
The place is huge. The parking lot is ginormous, if that's even a word. Renovations were going on so several elevators were down, which made for a longer wait time, but we were able to check in and navigate to our room, which was on the 5th floor in the red hallway I believe. I believe it took us almost two days to navigate easily. There's a work out area, indoor and outdoor pool, plenty of restaurants, shops all onsite.
Now to Repfest. Check in was the following morning. Super easy, pretty organized considering they were expecting 6000 reps. Received our packets and itinerary. Went back to the room to look at everything. Product expos were being held throughout the three day event. Also they were offering classes to take to learn about skincare, color, teams, increasing sales. To get a decent seat, I found out I had to be there pretty early. No registration was needed. I made it to 3 out of 6 classes offered.
There were also general sessions held each of the days. Recognition was amazing, introducing new products was very exciting, and learning about upcoming incentives sparked every reps excitement.
We learned about a Health and Wellness line being introduced early 2018 and received full sized products to try. Also two new incentives including a chance to win a Mini Cooper and an opportunity to earn not one but two spots on the cruise in April of 2018 was revealed.
At the product expos I walked around and spoke to each person. Makeup, perfume, skincare, clothing, etc. were all represented.
I came home with a new way to view my business. A new way to help my team. A new way to help my customers. And I'm thankful for that.
